This is a lifetime in the making—from the streets of her birth and youth to the suburban joke, the plot twists ain't nobody coulda' expected.

The Early Years: Finding Home

The need for a home she recalls often. The feeling of being the only girl on the block without a darker complexion—she gained a perspective of somebody a bit older. She took the struggle in stride. Maintained her worth.

The Moment Everything ChangEd

Till the morning after a scan in the ER to check for a glitch in her heart… but the moment the doctor walked in with the hospital Chaplin, the fear that had always been in the back of her mind—defining her as a person more than she ever wanted to admit—took over entirely.

Her mind, body, and soul were in a state of shock. But a little voice kept nagging at her, telling her this was just a season and like everything else she had been through would not kill her but make her see her situation and the situations of others from a different angle.

The Journey Forward

After a few more surprises—some amazing and others pretty big defeats—she stands ready to make another leap of faith.

But this time she feels like she can at least count on the people that read this and understand her a little and want to know more.
